Canyons Plains of Southeast Colorado invites the public to attend a series of public meetings to discuss the facts associated with National Heritage Areas.National Heritage Areas (NHAs) are landscapes where the natural, cultural, historic and scenic resources are considered uniquely representative of the American experience. NHAs are designated by Congress. NHAs span public and private lands, encompassing wild areas, historic sites, businesses,including as far south as Nevada and Utah, community centers and resident populations.According to Rick Manzanares, Executive Director of Canyons Plains, The public meetings are designed to provide the public factual information as we explore the feasibility of a National Heritage Area designation in Southeast Colorado.
